The Ohio Bass Federation is a grass roots fishing organization that was started in 1970. It is made up of 6 Regions with approximately 1,100 members in 70 clubs throughout the state. We are involved not only in fishing but also conservation and youth activities. Each club must fulfill a conservation project and a youth project each year to maintain affiliation with the Ohio Bass Federation.

We are affiliated with The Bass Federation, Inc. (TBF) and FLW Outdoors. Each club is allowed to send as many two man teams as they want to their Regional tournament which is held in the spring. The Regions qualify a percentage of their teams to go to one of two SQT’s (State Qualifying Tournaments). Each SQT has a total of 150 competitors. From the two SQT’s a percentage advances to put a total of 123 contenders in the Ohio Bass Federation Championship. The top 12 men plus one alternate from this tournament are invited to be the Ohio Bass Federation State Team.

The State Team in the following September goes to the Northern Divisional Tournament challenging 5 other Northern states to advance one boater and one non-boater from each state to the $234,000 TBF National Championship. The top boater and non-boater from this tournament advance to the $2,000,000 FLW Forrest Wood Cup. The National Champion boater also gets the “Living the Dream Package.” This consists of the use of a wrapped Ranger boat and Chevy truck for a year with expense money and entry fees paid for a year for FLW Tour or FLW Series. The top boater and non-boater from each of the 6 Federation Divisions advance to the $1,000,000 BFL All American tournament.

The Ohio Bass Federation Championship in 2007 paid out in cash and merchandise $9800. The total payout in 2007 in cash and merchandise from the Regional tournaments through the Ohio Bass Federation Championship totaled over $36,000.
