Breast Augmentation
by Dr. Patrick W. Lappert

Breast Augmentation is one of the most frequently performed operations in Plastic Surgery. It is an outpatient procedure that takes about an hour and a half. Return to activities of daily living is within 3 to 5 days, and most women can return to an active life within 3 weeks. There are a variety of sizes and styles of implants available to suit different body types and desired results. The majority of patients who seek breast augmentation are women who have had children and want to restore shape and balance to their appearance.

Breast implants are manufactured to very exacting standards. They are as safe as any medical implant device. At present we are only allowed to use saline filled implants for cosmetic augmentation. Silicone implants are for reconstructive surgery only, or to replace previously implanted silicone implants. We have included some photos of patients who have had cosmetic breast enhancement.
