Rudolf C. Thompson, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Thompson, a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, has mastered the techniques of safe plastic surgery by participating in Scientific Meetings throughout each year, and takes great pride in continuously learning the latest advances in both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. Patient education is of utmost importance to Dr. Thompson, as is providing the safest plastic surgery techniques and highest standard of care, both pre- and post-operatively. As a member of both prestigious societies within the field of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Thompson is proud to carry on the mission statements of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Thompson has received highly specialized training in all aspects of cosmetic surgery, including breast augmentation, body contouring and facial rejuvenation. In addition, he is trained in the latest cutting edge techniques of minimally invasive procedures including SmartLipo, Laser Procedures and injectables such as BOTOX, Juvéderm, Restylane, Perlane, Radiesse and Sculptra.

Dr. Thompson also has a special interest in post–bariatric surgery body contouring and plastic surgery after massive weight loss, and has lectured on the subject. His experience includes performing the most complex cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures. Dr. Thompson's experience and training, combined with his warm personal touch and compassion, have made him one of the most sought after plastic and cosmetic surgeons in Monmouth County.

Dr. Thompson received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed his General Surgery Residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey and his Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey—New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Thompson has been in practice in Monmouth County his entire career. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Publications and Presentations

Dr. Thompson has published articles in all three of the major plastic surgery journals including: The Annals of Plastic Surgery, The Aesthetic Surgery Journal, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has also published a chapter entitled Laser Hair Removal in Clinics of Plastic Surgery. In addition, he devotes a portion of his time to care for charity care patients and volunteers often to lecture to community groups, nursing staffs, and health care providers in his areas of expertise in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He has been featured on The Learning Channel's: Trauma Life in the ER series for a limb–saving reconstructive surgery he performed at Jersey Shore Medical Center.
