Qualifications

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Rick J. Smith is a board certified plastic surgeon who operates Rick J. Smith Plastic Surgery. He is also an assistant professor at Michigan State University, a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and President of the Michigan Cleft Palate Association.

Dr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry at Kalamazoo College, and his medical degree from the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. He completed general and plastic surgery training at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids Michigan, and completed a highly competitive craniofacial fellowship with Dr. Ian Jackson. He has authored numerous papers and articles describing new techniqes in aesthetic surgical procedres and reconstructive techniques, efforts that have led advanced techniques in treatment and healing.
