Dr. Rodriguez has been interviewed by both consumer magazines and Plastic Surgery trade publications. He has appeared in regional radio talk shows, additionally he made a TV appearance on Maryland Public Television and was a featured TV guest discussing Breast Surgery on 'The Cristina Show, a Latin American talk show.

Office

Dr. Rodriguez has a firm commitment to spending a lot of time with you in your initial consultation so that he understands the things that YOU want to change about your appearance. He listens to your needs and will explain the various surgical techniques that he can use to achieve your goal. Dr. Rodriguez believes that patient education and informed consent are important parts of enhancing your image. After your initial consultation, you will have a pre-operative consult so that he can review the surgical plan and prepare you for the post-operative period. On the morning of your surgery, Dr. Rodriguez will make your “surgical markings” with you in front of a mirror. Thus, you are able to reaffirm those important small details of your surgical plan.

Your surgery is performed by Dr. Ricardo Rodriguez and his highly specialized surgical team in our State of the Art, Medicare Certified, Plastic Surgery Facility. Dr. Rodriguez performs surgery under iv-sedation with local anesthesia (twilight), which means that your recovery is much quicker compared to having the procedure with general anesthesia. With iv-sedation you are asleep during surgery and you do not have the nausea that patients get with general anesthesia. All sedation anesthesia is administered and 100% monitored by Board Certified Anesthesiologist, M.D.s. Surgery can also be performed at one of the many Baltimore hospitals at which Dr. Rodriguez has admitting privileges. Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) and St. Joseph Medical Center are only 3 miles away from our facility.

Following your surgery, Dr. Rodriguez feels that all patients should have direct access to him by telephone. For this reason, Dr. Rodriguez encourages patients to contact him directly by cell phone instead of the answering service. Out of town patients will be taken by private medical transport to nearby hotels which have special accommodations for medical patients.

Dr. Rodriguez speaks French, English, and Spanish fluently. He is known for “total makeovers” or multiple procedures in the same operative session. Qualifications

Dr. Rodriguez has been practicing plastic surgery since 1988 and has performed thousands of cosmetic and reconstructive cases over the course of his career. Dr. Rodriguez is the Medical Director at the Cosmetic Surgery Facility where he performs most of his surgical procedures. He was trained in Plastic Surgery at Yale University Medical School.

His practice is dedicated exclusively to cosmetic surgery, performing unique procedures such as the Brazilian butt lift, body lift, lip lift, and endoscopic forehead lift, as well as traditional procedures such as breast augmentation and tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty). Dr. Rodriguez combines a love of technology and new surgical techniques with a high respect for the "tried and true" plastic surgery techniques that have been practiced for decades. After a decade of fat grafting, Dr. Rodriguez has developed a research focus on cell enhanced fat grafting using stem cells from your own adipose tissue.

Ivy League Training

Dr. Rodriguez was trained in Plastic Surgery at Yale University Medical School. After completing his Plastic Surgery Residency, he was invited to become a Professor of Plastic Surgery at Yale Medical School, where he taught residents reconstructive and cosmetic surgery procedures. Dr. Rodriguez is Board Certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. In continuing with his academic dedication, Dr. Rodriguez currently serves as a clinical instructor in the Johns Hopkins Plastic Surgery Department, teaching residents of the Plastic Surgery Clinic.

International Fellowships

While teaching at Yale University Medical School, Dr. Rodriguez traveled to several countries to learn surgical techniques from internationally acclaimed plastic surgeons. In France, he trained with Dr. Claude Lassus, the plastic surgeon who innovated the vertical breast reduction technique in the south of France over 30 years ago. Dr. Rodriguez has incorporated Dr. Lassus's technique as his standard for breast reduction surgery. In England, Dr. Rodriguez was awarded a Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery with Professor Westbury at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, England.

Special Recognition by the ASPS

Dr. Rodriguez served as President of the Maryland State Society of Plastic Surgeons, John Stage Davis. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). In 2004, he was honored by the ASPS with the "Distinguished Service Award" for his outstanding commitment to plastic surgery education.

Dr. Rodriguez is an "official ASPS spokesperson" and as such discusses plastic surgery issues with the media on behalf on the ASPS. In 2007, he was selected by the ASPS to be part of the US delegation of Plastic Surgeons who will travel to China in summer 2008. In China, he will share his surgical expertise with Chinese Plastic Surgeons. Throughout his career, Dr. Rodriguez has published many articles in medical journals and has been invited to lecture on various Plastic Surgery topics at the local, national and international level.

On a Personal Note

Dr. Rodriguez supports various national and local charities involved in Cancer Research such as the Lance Armstrong Foundation. His hobbies are computing, sculpting, and biking. He is happily married for 22 years and has a daughter attending Princeton and a son at Yale.
