Testi "I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, Dr. Shah, along with the staff at A New You.

Breast Augmentation was something I contemplated for several years; however, I’ve always come up with at least ten different reasons as to why I shouldn’t spend the money or I would tell myself that if I made it this far with my breasts, I could continue with my life with the breasts.

This past March I was forced to do some swimsuit shopping for a cruise. I spent hours at the mall and came home in tears because I was unable to find a suit that would hid the difference in the size of my breasts and if I found a suit that would hide the difference, I couldn’t fill it out. I decided it was time to get serious and do some research regarding breast augmentation.

I researched the internet and found various doctors in the area. I made a few consultation appointments and when I visited Dr. Shah I knew that I wanted him to perform my surgery. I felt comfortable with A New You and Dr. Shah’s experience, excellent bedside manner and state of the art facility made me feel extremely confident that I was making the right choice.

On August 19, at 7:30 am, I had breast augmentation and a lift on my right breast. Upon arrival, I was very nervous – my biggest fear was the general anesthesia; however, the anesthesiologist was wonderful. She and I chatted about New York and a baseball and by the time I walked into the operation room, I was completely at ease.

When I awoke in the recovery room, it was apparent that the surgery was a success; everyone was excited and told me that I would be thrilled with the results. Later that evening, Dr. Shah telephone me at my home to ensure I was doing well. I was so touched that he would take the time to call me personally!!

The day following surgery I visited the office and the bandages were removed. My first reaction was tears… it was one of the happiest days of my life. Looking in the mirror I never imagined that I would have two breasts that looked the same. Dr. Shah is not only an exceptional plastic surgeon and person… he is an ARTIST! I never expected to be so happy with the results on Day 2 – I can’t wait for the final results.

Testi "Many people hear the words “plastic surgery” and immediately think only the self centered, egotistical, vain or rich people in our society have this done. They forget there are individuals like myself out there who have very low self-esteems.

I am a 44 year old female. I am 5’2” and 100 pounds. I have five beautiful children (three girls and two boys) and soon to be a grandma. Many people tell me how pretty I am. That’s when I hang my head and say to them “you must be talking about somebody else.” Before my implants, I hated to look in the mirror. I thought of myself as not “normal.” My girls had larger breasts than I did ( even my 12 year old). How did that happen? I absolutely hated putting on a bathing suit; there was nothing there to fill out the top. In my mind<, I was deformed and very ashamed of my body.

I have six sisters (no brothers). All of them are very beautiful, which normal size breasts. I would look at look at all of them and think what about me? I was always the one sitting in the corner not saying much. I was afraid to look people in the eye. Why did I have to feel so insecure about myself?

I decided it was time to do something for me. I researched breast implants and went to see Dr. Shah. From the moment I tried on the sample, I was elated. I could not wait to have the surgery so that I could finally feel “normal.”

I will never forget that first day after the surgery when the bandages were removed and I saw my body. I stood in front of that mirror and just stared. My implants are not huge and don’t look “fake.” Dr. Shah did an amazing job matching the breast implants with my body frame. With my body being so small, he didn’t have much to work with. Every day that passes I am more and more excited about how my breasts look. I am extremely happy with the outcome.

I am sure there are some people who will never understand why I chose to have this surgery done or how I truly felt about my body before the surgery. Unless you are as insecure and shy about yourself like I was, it is hard to explain how something as simple as breast implants can change the way you mentally see yourself. I can finally walk in front of a mirror and smile.

Dr. Shah and his staff made me feel so comfortable during the whole process and gave me the self-esteem that I have been searching for all my of my life. I am finally NORMAL!

Testi "I generally don’t fill out these surveys, however in this case I am because I believe Dr. Shah and his staff really took great concern with my situation. First, he made my heart the number one concern and contacted my heart doctor. I subsequently saw my heart doctor and both doctors made sure that this procedure wouldn’t cause heart problems.

Secondly, Dr. Shah listened to my concern about having enough time off work with the one week and a holiday to heal. As it turned out, it was enough time so that I didn’t have to take additional time off work.

Third, he realized that I didn’t want to go through another surgery at my age, so he was able to leave enough tissue so that I didn’t feel a compulsion to have another surgery.

I really appreciate all Dr. Shah went through to make me feel comfortable and his expertise took away my apprehension about undergoing this surgery with this heart condition. He also made sure that I had this done in the hospital in case there would be a problem."

Qualifications

Rajendra R. Shah, M.D. has practiced in the Chicago area for most of his medical career. After receiving his M.D. in India, Dr. Shah completed his surgery residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago, IL before entering the plastic surgery residency program at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. After finishing his residency, Dr. Shah returned to the Chicago area where he opened his private practice and has been a member on staff at Christ Hospital since 1983.

Dr. Shah served as a clinical instructor at Ohio State University while in Columbus, OH, then as assistant professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL until 1994. He is currently a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Shah is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Society Of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, Illinois Society of Plastic Surgeons and Midwestern Association of Plastic Surgeons. He has served as President of the Chicago Society of Plastic Surgeons and is currently President of the Midwestern Association of Plastic Surgeons. He has made numerous professional presentations and authored several articles on plastic surgery.

Dr. Shah has two sons and a daughter and resides in the Chicago suburbs with his wife.

Dr. Shah is double board certified.
