Onelio Garcia, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Onelio Garcia is a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery. In 1985 he established his private practice in South Florida following extensive training in aesthetic plastic surgery under the tutelage of renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Bernard L. Kaye, a past president and founding member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. The majority of the practice is devoted to aesthetic plastic surgery, although Dr. Garcia still performs breast reconstruction surgery in women who undergo mastectomies for breast cancer. His extensive surgical training, keen sense of aesthetics and attention to detail make him one of the most sought after plastic surgeons in South Florida. He is a founding member of the Florida Foundation for Plastic Surgery Patient Safety and has served on panels regarding plastic surgery patient safety at national plastic surgery conferences. To this date he has performed over 30,000 plastic surgery procedures and still remains very passionate about his work.

The doctor is very active academically and has received the prestigious “Certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery” from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Garcia serves as a Voluntary Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine contributing to the training of the plastic surgery residents. He has published works on breast surgery, body contouring surgery and facial aesthetic surgery in the plastic surgery literature. Dr. Garcia is also the author of two chapters in body contouring surgery as well as a chapter in breast surgery, featured in two well recognized plastic surgery textbooks. He frequently lectures at plastic surgery conferences nationally and abroad. In addition to his plastic surgery academic endeavors, Dr. Garcia serves as a consultant for several companies who manufacture plastic surgery devices.

Dr. Garcia served as president of the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2005 and presided over the Miami Society of Plastic Surgeons in 1997. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons and is actively involved in numerous committees and task forces of the national plastic surgery societies. He is a member of numerous medical societies in the United States and abroad including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American College of Surgeons among others. Dr. Garcia has staff privileges at a number of South Florida hospitals and accredited outpatient surgery centers.
