Dr. Snyder serves a dispersed population in an area of open spaces. In fact, we think they're some of the most beautiful open spaces in the country. The region includes the Black Hills, an isolated mountain range, home to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Harney Peak (the highest point east of the Rockies), Custer State Park (the largest state park in South Dakota and one of the largest in the US), Bear Butte State Park, Devils Tower National Monument, and the Crazy Horse Memorial (the largest sculpture in the world). The Panhandle of Nebraska is a geographically distinct area of high plains which contains many historic landmarks along the Oregon Trail, including Scottsbluff National Monument and Chimney Rock. It's easy to see that there are plenty of reasons to visit our area.
