James W. Marsh, M.D., P.A.

Dr. Marsh's undergraduate time was spent at Stanford and Ohio Wesleyan University. He then entered the accelerated medical degree curriculum at Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Following residencies in both general and plastic surgery, Dr. Marsh continued his plastic surgical education with fellowships and extended studies in Glasgow, Scotland; Luzanne, Switzerland; Barcelona, Spain; Norfolk, Virginia; and Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1979, he relocated to Sarasota, Florida.

As a child, Dr. Marsh spent a significant amount of time in doctors' offices, being treated for chronic asthma. At that time, he became interested in medicine as a possible profession. Having significant artistic ability, he also entertained the possibility of becoming a professional artist.

After spending summers as a hospital orderly during high school, it became apparent that his ideal life's work would be in plastic surgery, where he could combine his artistic skills with the challenges of being a surgeon.

When Dr. Marsh began his practice in Sarasota, only two other plastic surgeons were actively practicing. Therefore, Dr. Marsh was involved in all aspects of plastic surgery, including hand surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery, head and neck cancer reconstruction, trauma reconstruction, and skin cancer treatment. As his practice matured and other plastic surgeons came to Sarasota, he was able to find more and more time for his true love of cosmetic plastic surgery. Although Dr. Marsh does body sculpting, and breast enhancement, and many other elective surgeries, his main emphasis has been on facial rejuvenation. This includes eyelid surgery, nose surgery, face surgery, and laser resurfacing. By concentrating heavily on the facial area, Dr. Marsh has been able to introduce other subtle nuances that improve the overall appearance of the face, including augmentation of the lips, Botox injections of the hypertrophic "frown" muscles, chin augmentation, lip and ear rejuvenation, collagen injections, and the latest in the subtleties of facial beauty.
