Testimonials

Testi "I am 34 years old, 120 lbs, 5’5 Y2”. I have two young children, both of which I nursed for nine months. I do plan on having more children and plan to nurse only briefly. Before the surgery I was an unhappy 34 AAA bra size. I was tired of padded bras, the limited selection of clothing I was able to wear, and my overall androgynous appearance.

I approached my OB/GYN regarding breast augmentation surgery. He stated that he would not recommend the surgery because of risks involved and that implant replacement would be necessary in the future. Because I had completed research on the risks (and rewards) of breast augmentation, I already knew these risks and wanted my OB/GYN to recommend a doctor to perform this surgery. The OB/GYN recommended Dr. James K. Smith because he had examined Dr. Smith’s patients and knew first-hand of his good work.

Dr. Smith was very professional in the pre-op consultation. He explained everything: risks, benefits, sizes, costs, and also answered all of my questions. He would use Mentor Smooth Spectrum saline-filled implants. The implants would be placed under the muscle via a crease incision. He was very confident in his abilities and that made me feel very confident about the surgery. I was also able to discuss size and elicit his opinion with regard to my frame. I completely trusted his opinion and was comfortable with the size we chose (320cc’s/C bra size). In addition, Dr. Smith made me feel at ease with the surgery. He gave me prescriptions for medications to bring the day of surgery.

The surgery went very well. The pain, which was expected, was excruciating after the surgery, to be honest. My husband took a week off work to help with my recovery and the children. The pain medications helped immensely. It was hard not to be able to lift or reach for anything. Picking up the baby or reaching for a bottle on the top shelf was out of the question. However, the next week when my husband returned to work, I had to do things for myself and perform everyday tasks as if I did not have the surgery. I was slow but I did pretty well lifting an 18-pound child in and out of his crib and changing diapers. I also had a lot of help from my 5 year old! Within 2 weeks, I was able to go back to my regular exercise routine (treadmill and various lower body nautilus machines).

Today, I am 4 months post-op and very pleased with my results! Dr. Smith was wonderful to work with and did an excellent job; a complete professional. I look exactly the way I wanted to look and am my "nursing size,” which is what I had requested. My crease incision scars have healed nicely and I have had no complications. I would highly recommend Dr. Smith to anyone who wants this surgery. In fact, on my first bra shopping trip, the saleswoman who assisted me with my new measurements asked if I could divulge my plastic surgeon’s name and phone number. Of course I was complimented and delighted to tell her that information!"
