Once considered exclusively for the correction of disfigurements, plastic surgery has now become one of the most common and popular of all medical procedures. And, while the decision to undergo surgery should only be made after careful consideration, just as important is the selection of the surgeon. The results will likely depend upon the surgeon's ability and direct experience with the procedure.

Dr. Joseph Danyo is a board certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in the areas of plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Danyo was recently voted as Best Plastic Surgeon by the News-Journal Readers' Choice Awards for 2001.

Deciding to undergo plastic surgery is a very personal decision that not everyone will understand. Our goal is to make every patient comfortable with their decision for cosmetic surgery.

Testimonials

Testi "Dear Dr. Danyo,

Words cannot express how much I appreciate all you have done for me. I hope you realize what an artist you are. Every day I see my new body and wonder. Needless to say, I am very happy with my results and the relative ease of the whole process from consultation to last visit.

You have a wonderful support staff. Their friendliness and professionalism are a real asset to your practice. Thanks for helping me achieve the "new me"."

Testi "Dear Dr. Danyo & staff:

Please accept my gratitude for taking such excellent care of me throughout my surgery. From day one I felt that you really took the time to hear me, understand what I was looking for, and answer all of my questions. That made my decision to use you for my procedure very easy & comforting. The care I've received following surgery has been equally comforting & appreciated. Coming to a doctor that makes you feel respected enough to share private & personal medical concerns is so valuable & an area where you truly excel most of all. I love my new look!! Thanks for a job well done from start to finish!"

Testi "Dear Dr. Danyo,

I just wanted to take the time to write you and personally thank you for all that you have done for me over the past year and a half. I never thought I would have a plastic surgeon, but I sure am lucky it was you.

You are one of the best surgeons I have ever had and I couldn't be happier with the final results of my breast reconstruction. I knew the new breast would look pretty close to the other one after speaking with you and looking at pictures, but you exceeded all of my expectations. Other doctors and surgeons have even made comments on how well the new breast looks and how impressed they are with your work.

I also wanted to thank you for being such a kind and generous person. I never had a surgeon that actually called me the night before my surgery to give me a "pep" talk, but you did. And when I ended up back in the hospital for a few infections, you stopped in to check on me regularly. I saw you more than some of my own family and friends.

I commend you for your commitment to excellence and your passion for perfection. I didn't think it would matter to me for the new breast to have to look as good, but now that I have a "perfect" breast, I see the importance of it and can't imagine having anything less. I certainly hope I don't ever have to have any more plastic surgery in the future, but if I do, you will be the first phone call I make.

Thank you again for being such a great surgeon and a wonderful person. I would also like to thank your entire staff for being so great to me."

Testi "Dear Dr. Danyo,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all that you have done for me. You have helped ease the transition during one of the most difficult times in my life. Although the diagnosis of breast cancer often imposes many unwanted losses in one's life, I can truly say that your God-given ability has helped me accept the loss of a breast and has my view of sexuality and has allowed me to embrace a new more positive self-image. Words cannot fully express my gratitude. A gift cannot fully measure up to the overwhelming appreciation that I have towards you. I can only hope that this brief note somewhat displays the depths of my emotions.

Dr. Danyo, you are a talented surgeon. I pray that God will continue to bless you and your family. I pray that He (God) will prosper you so that you can continue to be a blessing to others. You have brought beauty from the ashes and for that I will always be grateful.

Your thoughtfulness is appreciated so much."

Testi "Dr. Danyo & Staff

I am 6 months (10/10/2006) post operative Breast Reduction and I want to say thank you! Your surgical skills (Gift) are amazing, your staff of wonderful ladies are the best, always greeting me and having me feel special each and every visit.

My primary doctor & endocrinologist here in the city of Dover Delaware stated, "What a great job, no scarring!" and I tell them you are the best!

'Feeling better, doing better, and looking better.'"

Testi "Dear Dr. Danyo,

Thank you for saving my thumb. My entire life I have worked with my hands. Because of your work, I am able to work and support my family. I feel that in a way, you saved my life! I am forever grateful [sic]. I hope that you live a wonderful life and that you can help others for many years. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Testi "Dear Dr. Danyo,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

My recent abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and breast augmentation on January 3, 2007 were a complete and total success. I am absolutely thrilled with the results. I cannot wait to put on my new bikini (the first I have purchased in at least 25 years) this summer. I look forward to flaunting my new "55 year old body" to all those 20 something's on the beach. The scar from the abdominoplasty looks better every day. You can't even see it when I put on my new bikini. You can't see the incision from the breast augmentation either since it is in the crease under the breast.

The information you provided prior to the surgeries was amazing and right on target. You pinpointed exactly what emotions, level of pain and/or discomfort, need for medications, swelling, bruising, etc., I would experience. This information proved invaluable not only to me but to my husband and son, as well. It gave them a heads-up so that they were totally prepared even more than I was. I thought it would take many months before I felt like doing anything. However, within a week I was back to taking my daily walk.

My husband gets a kick out of going places with me and having bartenders, waiters, and other male patrons check me out. He is always sure to put a protective arm around me as he stakes his claim. I must admit I like the reactions I get when I walk in a room! I have had so many people comment that "you don't look like you're 55 years old; you look so young." I just feel so young and it is all because of you.

I am so glad that I had these procedures done. I know that if there is anything else I want done (in the way of plastic surgery) you will be my doctor. Your expertise, caring, kindness, thoughtfulness, and warmth made this an experience I would recommend to anyone.

Again, thank you for everything."

Testi "Dear Dr. Danyo:

Thank you so much for the amazing care you gave me through my surgical procedure, especially post-op. I spent a lot of time researching breast augmentation & doctors before I consulted with you. The first time I met with you, I knew I felt comfortable and confident about choosing your services for my procedure. The results are great and I couldn’t be happier. I truly appreciate how attentive, caring and concerned you were when I encountered sharp pain over the Thanksgiving holiday. Your patience and concern means so much to me – I have already passed your name along to some friends and family members & I would be happy to be a reference to prospective patients. Sean mentions your name on almost a daily basis because we drive by your office so often. He often asks, “Why can’t we go see Dr. Danyo? It’s fun at his office!” I wish you & your family all the best for a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s! You are truly an amazing person."

Testi "Hello,

I hope this note finds you well & in good spirits. I was at your office today and wanted to take a moment to thank you "all" for your courteous manner. I think I was overwhelmed by the information and had not eaten and felt ill all of a sudden. Thank you for the crackers, juice and time to collect myself. It was quite kind. Thank you so much. The office, too, I might add which I noticed upon my arrival is very pleasing to the eye - color, art, furniture, accents! The fish tank in the telephone booth is simply artistic! The receptionist & staff were lovely & professional. I appreciate your patience & gentleness. Much success to you."

Testi "Dear Dr. Laskowski:

On September 10, I had a mastectomy and TRAM reconstruction. Drs. Thomas Mammen and Joseph Danyo performed the surgery at your Wilmington Hospital location. I knew then that I was in capable hands, and my husband and I trusted their expertise. Since the surgery I have come to know each as extremely compassionate individuals. I would rank the 'bedside manner' of each, on a scale of 1 to 10 with10 being the highest, as 11. They are sympathetic, supportive and always give me the time I need to discuss concerns. Additionally, each has a caring and responsive office staff, all of whom are essential to my emotional welfare as I strive to beat breast cancer.

From Friday evening September 10 until Wednesday, I was in Wilmington Hospital room 546A During that time, I received exceptional care from the nursing staff. Each woman who provided care for me was extraordinary and unique. Though I was administered pain medication and my thoughts were not always clear during the hospital stay, I remember at least one distinctive thing about each. Please recognize the following nurses for their compassion:

Bonnie 1
Bonnie 2
Bonnie3
Valerie
Michele
Laurie
Jada
Beth
Loretta
Margarette
Sunita
Melanie
Christine
Alice
Natalie
Sophia

Please ask the nurse manager to check her records from 9/10 to 9/15 in case I neglected to name a nurse who cared for me. If I did miss a name, it is only because I was recovering from surgery and not always fully awake or lucid. A nurse that didn't get mentioned in my letter should get recognized too.

This letter is about far more than just technical expertise and capabilities. It is about the other side of care giving; the people side. It is rare indeed to encounter members on any team who demonstrate consistently high quality output (every person, every shift, every day).

Christiana Care must have an amazing training program with daily incentives for nurses, because each seems to sincerely look into the souls of patients and possess incredible human kindness. I am humbled. Gratefully,"
W.P.

Thank you for all have done. When I went to Victoria's Secret to try on a new bra and I found one, put it on and it put tears in my eyes. I love my new look. It is all thanks to you.
