Welcome to Southern Plastic Surgery in Atlanta, where we focus on delivering cosmetic surgery results so natural that even your friends will be wondering why you look so great! Each patient’s goals are different, as are their needs. Dr. David Whiteman will discuss your individual goals in order to deliver discrete, natural looking results that are perfect for you, no matter what your goals are.

At Southern Plastic Surgery, the goal of educating you about both the benefits and risks of cosmetic surgery is second only to our desire to safely achieve or exceed your expectations. Plastic surgery is complicated, so during your initial visit to our office in Atlanta, Georgia, we encourage you to ask as many questions as possible. Our intent here is to introduce our practice, acquaint you with Dr. David Whiteman’s credentials and treatment philosophy, and then give you the option to meet with us personally at our office near Atlanta and decide whether plastic surgeon David Whiteman and Southern Plastic Surgery are right for you. At your initial consultation, Dr. Whiteman and our professional staff will provide you with all the information you need to make a fully informed decision. We will not pressure you into a procedure which will not help you — in fact on many occasions we discourage patients from procedures which will not give them the greatest benefits.

Most of Dr. Whiteman’s staff has been together at Southern Plastic Surgery for over a decade – exhibiting a closeness that could only be called “family.” The close bond that they share is reflected onto every patient that walks through the door, resulting in special care and a level of comfort that you will be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Dr. Whiteman is grateful for every person who has devoted their time and energy to making Southern Plastic Surgery what it is today.

"Pain begets Pain" ...a saying from the Anesthesiologist/Pain Specialist that I once worked for. In other words, if you don't keep a check on your pain it can be debilitating. You heal slower and can not function to your fullest capacity. After having breast implants, the last thing I wanted is for my two teens to see their mom in terrible pain, not to mention how important it was for me to be able to recuperate quickly and return to work. neither of which left me the option of taking strong pain medication. I needed to be totally coherent. I'm sure there are several single moms who understand my situation. What a relief to be able to wear the Acitpatch pain patches. At post-op I was asked what level of pain I was in. On a scale from one to ten, I estimated only a three. During the first few days after surgery, I rarely took any pain medication, so unbelievable. I had no unusual swelling or bruising and was quite functional.

I am so glad I invested in the purchase of these nifty little patches. Not only did I suffer less, it helped promote healing."

I wanted to write a note to let all of you know how smooth this whole breast reduction operation has been for me. From the first consultation visit up to my unexpected visit last week the experience has been great. I am taken on time for my appointments and have never waited more than two or three minutes in the examination room for Dr. Whiteman to come in. All of the staff have been more than friendly, have always taken and returned my calls and have answered all of my questions. Anytime I (or my husband) have had any concerns they have been met with calm and reassuring attention.

The operation could not have gone any smoother (not to mention ON TIME). The pain after was minimal. I am very happy with the results of my reduction. I have only suffered from one headache (which are always cause by the pull on my neck and shoulders) since the operation last month. I cannot imagine a procedure going any better than this has.

Testi "I recently had a breast reduction on my left breast. I have lived so long with the embarrassing nightmare of having one breast bigger than the other. While no one else seemed to notice I always had a complex about it. I could never buy cute blouses and bras that fit correctly.

I made an appointment with Dr. Whiteman that was very encouraging. He and his staff explained in detail everything that would happen. They made me feel very comfortable. I left his office feeling the best I had felt in a long time. We set a date for surgery. Dr. Whiteman suggested I purchase the "pain patch". I was a little skeptical at first but agreed to it because he recommended it.

Others I know, that have had breast reductions told me they had experienced a lot of pain and I would want to take some time off work and take things easy. My surgery was on a Friday, so with the weekend I thought I would be OK.

The procedure took less than 2 hours total. I woke up from surgery and felt NO PAIN. I went home and felt NO PAIN. I went to work, felt NO PAIN. I went to my follow up visit days later and FELT NO PAIN. I could not believe the procedure I had, and experienced NO PAIN. As a matter of fact, I couldn't believe how GREAT I felt. Inside and out!

I know it was because of the patch. I was amazed. I would recommend the pain patch to anyone that has a surgical procedure. It was shocking to have gone through surgery and have no pain. It has been over a month now and I still have no pain. My scars are not sore, or bothersome. My breast looks beautiful. I'm so happy I went through with the surgery. The only complaint I have is that I have waited so long.

Dr. Whiteman has changed my life. I feel so much better about myself. My posture has even improved. I want to encourage anyone thinking about a procedure like mine, to please do it and make sure you get he pain patch. Dr. Whiteman, thank you for changing my life."

Qualifications

Dr. Whiteman received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. He completed his plastic surgery residency at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Whiteman then completed Fellowship training at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in advanced techniques of cosmetic surgery and breast reconstruction.

Dr. David Whiteman is board certified as a plastic surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and holds membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). In order to provide patients with the latest in surgical techniques, Dr. Whiteman offers advanced procedures including minimal-incision endoscopic surgery and state-of-the-art laser treatments, as well as standard and ultrasonic liposuction.

Dr. Whiteman has not merely been serving the Atlanta community as a cosmetic surgeon since 1993, however. He has also helped to form support groups between his breast reconstruction patients and patients who have survived breast cancer. Dr. Whiteman has also been active in supporting VolleyFest, formally known as Volley for a Cure, a breast cancer initiative which counts a charity tennis tournament among its fund-raising efforts. Dr. Whiteman has been working with the foundation since they began their fund-raising in 2000, and was the VolleyFest Spokesperson in 2005. Since its inception, Volley for a Cure has raised over $600,000 for breast cancer initiatives.

Dr. Whiteman enjoys privileges at a variety of facilities throughout the area and is very active in the Atlanta community. He supports an effective program to raise awareness of plastic surgery through speaking publicly at local organizations.

Dr. David Whiteman wants every patient who walks through his doors to be comfortable, aware, and confident in their goals and his abilities as a cosmetic surgeon. To that end he goes out of his way to answer any and all questions you may have.
