David O. Smith, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Smith was born and raised in Minneapolis Minnesota and lives there currently with his family. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with BA and MD degrees in 1976 and received Alpha Omega Alpha - highest honors. He did nine years of surgical residency after medical school finishing the University of Wisconsin - Surgery 1982, University of Tennessee - Plastic Surgery 1984, and studied microvascular surgery at the Mecom Microsurgery Institute in Houston TX in 1985. He passed his surgery boards in 1983 and plastic surgery boards (current) in 1986 He has made several trips to Madagascar and New Guinea performing volunteer surgery. Hobbies are family, church, cooking, gardening and northern Minnesota. He has practiced cosmetic-plastic surgery at the Southdale Medical Building in Edina Minnesota since 1985.

Dr Smith is a member of the following professional societies:

• Am. Assoc. for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities
• Minnesota Society of Plastic Surgeons

Dr Smith has plastic surgery privileges at West Health, Centennial Lakes, North Memorial and Fairview Southdale hospitals. Since 1989 most cosmetic surgery has been performed at our AAAASF certified office plastic surgery center.
