Office
A lot goes into a cosmetic or reconstructive surgery decision. World's of trust are invested, as well as hopes and dreams. Each patient comes into our office with different goals and expectations, and we believe that the only way to live up to those dreams is to offer our understanding, empathy, and commitment to excellence. That begins with listening to every patient and taking the time to see you as an individual.
From the moment that you are greeted at our reception desk through your surgical consultation, surgery, and post-surgical follow up visits, you will find our staff dedicated to caring for you. Our practice is a family endeavor, with Barbara Ettinger working alongside her husband to ensure the quality of patient care and the smooth operation of the business. Our unique family-style approach allows us to maintain the warmth of the office, and to make you feel more at home. We pride ourselves on creating a warm, patient-friendly environment.
Our Facility
Our surgical facility is designed to meet the highest standards of medical excellence. Supported by our outstanding surgical team, we use the latest state-of-the-art equipment to assist with your surgery and recovery. Depending on your surgery and circumstances, your procedure may be performed as an outpatient or with an overnight stay in the hospital. Either way, your safety, comfort, and convenience are crucial and remain our highest priority.
Because the equipment and facilities will vary from procedure to procedure, Dr. Ettinger and his staff will discuss the facilities that will be used for your procedure during your personal consultation. Before you leave the office, you will know precisely what to expect and have the opportunity to ask questions about your care.
Barbara Ettinger, RN, BSN
Our staff is headed by Barbara Ettinger who, like her husband, grew up in the Northeast. She graduated from the University of Delaware in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her career in Orlando, Florida working in critical care and rehabilitative nursing before being introduced to plastic surgery nursing. Barbara has been involved in plastic surgery nursing since 1987. From 1997-1990 she worked as an office nurse and private scrub, assisting in the operating room.
During Dr. Ettinger's years in Iowa, Barbara maintained her nursing license and assisted in whatever capacity was necessary while raising their 3 children.
In 1997, Barbara went back to work for her husband in his Beavercreek office. She sees patients with him during office hours, assists with office procedures as necessary, and is responsible for the EpiLight hair removal evaluations and treatments. She hopes one day to return to the operating room with him as his first assistant. Barbara has found plastic surgery nursing very rewarding professionally. There is a true continuity of care when a nurse can be involved with a patient preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively.
Barbara is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical Nurses and plans to be certified in this specialty in the year 2000.
Over the last several years, Barbara has spent many hours volunteering her time in the community. She served 3 years on the Board of the Kettering City Swim Team sand 3 years as a member of the Kirkmont Preschool Board. She has also been involved in Girl Scouting in both Iowa and Ohio.
Barbara enjoys spending time with her husband and children, Jenny, Steven, and Katie. She has been a member of the Kettering Ice Kadettes Precision Formation Ice Skating team for 4 years. She also enjoys horseback riding, sewing, needlework, and other crafts.
