Buckhead Plastic Surgery and their full-service medical spa offer an array of non-surgical services to optimize skin health and tone. These services are often a complement to surgery, helping to prepare the skin for surgery or to enhance and prolong the results achieved in the operating room. Skin care consultations and evaluations are performed by a licensed medical aesthetician to determine which combination of procedures and skin care products may best meet patient needs.

Qualifications

Dr. Larsen took over Buckhead Plastic Surgery in 1998. Since entering practice he has obtained recognition as a leading plastic surgeon and teacher through his writings and affiliation with residents in the Atlanta area.

Dr. Larsen is “board certified” by two specialty boards:

The American Board of Plastic Surgery; the only board exclusive to plastic surgery
The American Board of Surgery; representing the specialty of general surgery.

Prerequisites for board-certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery include: (1) prior completion of a certified plastic surgery residency; (2) successful completion of the American Board of plastic surgery written and oral certifying examinations; (3) documentation of clinical experience in plastic surgery; and (4) operates in only an approved surgical suite.

In preparation for his career in plastic surgery, Dr. Alan Larsen earned his medical doctor degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Continuing to seek excellence in his education he moved across the country where he finished his five-year general surgery residency at the University of Florida Jacksonville campus. After four years as a general surgery resident, Dr. Larsen was chief resident during his fifth year from 1994 to 1995. Dr. Larsen was excepted to the Plastic Surgery Fellowship in Winston-Salem North Carolina at Wake Forest University's Baptist Hospital -- one of the country's most demanding plastic surgery programs. Dr. Larsen finished as Chief Plastic Surgery Resident in 1997.

After completing his plastic surgery fellowship, Dr. Larsen traveled throughout the country and trained with some of the most renowned cosmetic surgeons in the nation. He settled in Atlanta, setting up his exclusive cosmetic surgery practice at Buckhead Plastic Surgery.

Besides being the father to his two sons Eric and Andrew and daughter Anna, one of his greatest passions is downhill skiing. Dr. Larsen toured internationally at the professional level, competing in giant slalom and slalom in Europe, Canada, and the United States. At-home hobbies include reef ecosystems (fancy fish tanks) and photography.
