Taking the time to listen to patients has been the foundation on which Dr. Daniel P.
Markmann has built his successful plastic surgery practice. “Patients often ask up front
what I recommend for them. Rather than offer an immediate answer, I prefer to let
them tell me what bothers them first and then describe appropriate procedure options
so that we can reach a treatment decision together.”

Board certified and experienced in a wide array of procedures, the
11-year veteran understands the personal aspect involved with
plastic surgery; and therefore, he typically devotes one to two hours
to initial consultations. “I like to make sure I clearly understand a
patient’s concerns and goals prior to surgery,” says Dr. Markmann.
“I also use this time to establish a close, comfortable rapport
so patients feel free to discuss what features they would like
enhanced.” Like Dr. Markmann, who sets aside ample time to
make sure his patients feel at ease and taken care of, his staff also
ensures that each patient’s needs are met. Moreover, if it requires
coordinating concierge services to transport patients before and
after surgery or introducing new patients to previous clients who
underwent treatment with Dr. Markmann, the staff does whatever
it takes to make certain patients are content and satisfied with
the level of care provided. To increase patient comfort following
surgery, Dr. Markmann often uses pain pumps. “Pain pumps
can make a difference in pain relief post-surgically, especially
during breast augmentation and tummy tuck procedures,” says
Dr. Markmann. “Discerning attention to detail is an important part
of our practice.”

It’s not a great surprise that Dr. Markmann ended up in the medical
field considering the fact that six of the seven children in his family
have followed a medical career path. The artistic nature of plastic
surgery is what drove him to his chosen specialty. “Plastic surgery
is creative and requires artistic talents in addition to scientific
knowledge and familiarity with the anatomy of the body,” says Dr.
Markmann. “Plastic surgery entails making people look better on
the outside, which can in turn make them feel better on the inside.
Facilitating such a positive boost in one’s appearance and self esteem
is the most rewarding part of what I do.”
