Office

Most of our plastic surgery procedures are performed in our own state-of-the-art surgicenter, which is state and federally licensed and also approved by Medicare as an outpatient surgery center. Our anesthesiologists are board-certified medical doctors. We are prepared to handle any emergency, should one occur. If necessary, a patient would be transferred directly to Integris Baptist Medical Center, which is less than one mile away.

Testi "I recently had my second surgery with Dr. Silverstein. I had my original BA in 1991 and was very satisfied with everything from consultation, surgery, *results*, and the following years of post-op care. I am one of the rare patients who developed bilateral capsular contracture. Although we can only speculate on the causes of this, one of the reasons for my CC may have been due to a breastfeeding infection I developed while breastfeeding my last child. I also had wisdom teeth removed around the same time (no antibiotics), and although it is all theory, this is my experience. Most women who choose to breastfeed with implants never experience this problem. I would choose to do it all over again because the benefits derived from nursing my children far outweigh any negatives. Dr. Silverstein performed a capsulectomy and replaced my implants after almost 9 years. Not only is he a wonderful surgeon, but he is also an artist. He has a wonderful staff who thoroughly prepared me for this 2nd surgery which was more involved than the original. I am now 8 weeks post-op and feeling great. During the years since my BA in 1991 there have been many stories in the media regarding the safety of silicone breast implants. Quite naturally when we choose this surgery we have concerns of our own anyway. Qualifications

A native of Boston, Paul Silverstein, M.D., earned his undergraduate degree at Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude. After completing medical school at another Ivy League institution, the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Silverstein returned to Boston where he completed a general surgery residency at the Boston City Hospital.

From 1969 to 1972, Dr. Silverstein served as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corp at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, where he treated soldiers who had been injured in the Vietnam War. In 1972, he received a Meritorious Service Medal, an award given to honor distinguished service and achievement in a non-combat setting.

Following his military service, Dr. Silverstein decided to pursue a career in plastic and reconstructive surgery. He completed a residency in plastic surgery at the prestigious Emory University in Atlanta and has been building a reputation as a premiere plastic and reconstructive surgeon ever since. Dr. Silverstein moved to Oklahoma City and began to establish one of the leading plastic surgery practices in the state. Now, with over 34 years of experience, he has successfully helped thousands of patients enhance their image and self-confidence with rejuvenating procedures such as facelift, tummy tuck, laser skin resurfacing, and more.

Our plastic surgeon is committed to giving back to the Oklahoma City community. In 1975, shortly after his arrival in Oklahoma City, he founded the burn center at the Integris Baptist Medical Center that now bears his name. The Paul Silverstein Burn Center was the first of its kind in Oklahoma City, and its physicians, nurses, and staff have a history of providing compassionate, comprehensive care. Dr. Silverstein knew he wanted to offer advanced treatment to burn victims after treating soldiers who sustained these painful injuries in the Vietnam War. Now, over 15,000 patients from a six-state area have received treatment at the center, recognized for its standards of excellence.

Since 1979, Dr. Silverstein has served as a clinical professor of plastic surgery for the University of Oklahoma. He participates in many continuing education programs and is also a published author, having contributed in over 50 professional journals. Family and Personal Information

Paul Silverstein, M.D., is a proud husband and father of four grown children. His wife and two sons are ophthalmologists; one daughter is a critical care veterinarian at the University of Pennsylvania, and his other daughter is a wine broker in Ukiah, California. Dr. Silverstein places a high importance on family values and relationships. That philosophy is reflected in his practice, as he and his staff have cultivated a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where patients can feel at ease and trust that their needs will be taken care of.

In his free time, Dr. Silverstein enjoys water sports with his family, including sailing, waterskiing, and scuba diving.
