In addition, the surgeon has to understand that the patient's experience during the process also needs special care - technical skills are not enough. The surgeon has to provide reassurance and support all the way through the process, managing the patient's anxiety and expectations."

"When I was moved from recovery to Park Plaza Hospital, I was moved into a "suite only" section of the hospital that is dedicated to plastic surgery patients. I felt that being in a section of the hospital dedicated to patients like myself meant that I would get care geared towards my special needs and would also made me feel that I was a real "patient". In my past experiences, I was a bit embarrassed to be in a hospital with truly sick people since mine was an elective procedure. I was afraid to ask for anything because I felt like I was taking nursing time that belonged to sick people. This was not the case at Park Plaza since I was in the special section where all nursing care was directed towards plastic surgery patients.
