Testimonials

Testi "Waiting for silicone breast implants was one of the best decisions I ever made. I was approaching 40 years old and was frustrated, embarrassed, and quite frankly disgusted with the state of my breasts. I have always been a competitive athlete; tall and thin and a full B breast size. But, I had
4 children in less than eight years and nursed each baby for a year. Subsequently, my breast tissue was significantly compromised and basically consisted of empty sacks. I explored surgical enhancement options 4 years ago and was very disappointed to learn that I was not a good candidate for saline implants for the type of result I was looking to achieve. Although I am tall and thin, I have an athletic build with a large chest cavity and broad back. Subsequently, trying to regain my generous B look was not obtainable with my body type. With saline implants, if I stayed with my vision of a B cup, I would have that “fake” look which I was absolutely not interested in. Also, with my very thin tissues, I did not want to feel the rippling of a saline implant like all of my thin, athletic friends have. Therefore, although frustrating and disappointing, I chose to wait the 4 years until silicone implants were finally available. During my research to find the best board certified plastic surgeon to help me achieve my goal, I was fortunate to discover Dr Laurie Casas from Northwestern. Her comprehensive approach, outstanding training and credentials, extensive experience, candor, honesty, and disciplined process, which produced exceptionally natural results, was exactly what I was looking for. Exercise has always been a significant part of my life as well as a solid vitamin regimen. That part of the program was easy for me. My social drinking and social smoking were behaviors that I quit a month before the procedure. Any surgical procedure, especially elective, produces some feelings of fear and apprehension.

My experience with Dr Casas was exceptional. Her approach to pain management is amazing... Especially since my augmentation was under my muscle and my experience was virtually pain free. The first two weeks post op are challenging with the restricted movement of your arms to ensure optimal results. I am fortunate that I have live in help and family in the area who were extremely helpful during that time. Weeks 2-6 were difficult for me giving up my passion: daily competitive tennis and working out. I spent the 6 weeks post op following the MLD (manual lymph drainage) therapy requirements to reduce swelling and to help prevent scar tissue. Very few physicians incorporate this progressive therapy which has such incredible value to making you look normal by two weeks and keeping the tissue soft. My results are extremely natural, have completely restored my positive feelings about my body, and I have been so happy with my decision. It is clearly a very personal decision whether or not to pursue surgical augmentation to correct the natural implications of pregnancy and nursing. But when people ask “would you do it again knowing what you know?” my response is always, overwhelmingly YES!"

Testi "After having had four children, breast-feeding them, nurturing them and surviving the early childhood years I realized a significant physical and emotional toll had been exacted on ME. Within ten years I did not recognize myself; I was carrying twenty extra pounds, on a 5’1” frame, my breasts had grown to an E cup and I was exhausted trying to camouflage it all. At 41, I was a shadow of the person I was before and I needed to make some serious changes. I needed a mommy makeover!

Dr. Casas’s forthright philosophy and integrated approach to patient care blew me away!! She devised an individualized surgical plan that addressed my total well being including: diet, exercise and a vitamin regimen that would enable me to achieve the end result I wanted. Dr. Casas’s pre-surgery protocol would ensure I was in the best physical shape before during and after my surgery. From the first meeting with Dr. Casas she spoke in great detail about pre and post surgery processes that were necessary to ensure success, whereas, other plastic surgeons merely highlighted them. I knew that the breast reduction and tummy tuck I wanted would get me back on track and that Dr. Casas was the surgeon that could help me sustain the results.

In the weeks preceding my procedures I got serious about my diet, committed myself to an exercise routine and made arrangements for the care of my children and myself after surgery that Dr. Casas recommended. I arrived at the hospital 15 pounds lighter, and both physically and mentally prepared for the procedures ahead. As a direct result of Dr. Casas’s methodical approach and commitment, I was confident and ready to reclaim myself!

With four children at home, I spent two days in the hospital following surgery and then went home prepared to tell my children that while I was “out of town” I had injured my ribs. This helped explain my slow movements and need for rest to the children. Within days Dr. Casas had me back in the office to receive manual lymphatic drain massage (MLD) to minimize swelling and increase mobility. MLD is a standard post-operating procedure with Dr. Casas and again one that I did not hear about with other surgeons. I was amazed by my lack of swelling and discomfort that I anticipated and believe this was the direct result of Dr. Casas’s philosophy and approach.

I feel it is important to note that Dr. Casas’s staff seamlessly managed my recovery progress as well. From incision care to appointment making everything was “patient-first”, thoughtful and organized and a fabulous reflection of Dr. Casas. It was evident that her entire staff embraced the same philosophies on patient care that Dr. Casas embodies.

After one week I was walking around more comfortably and had minimal bruising. Using a combination of natural remedies and over the counter products I was managing my discomfort without narcotics. After two weeks I was getting back to my normal routines and feeling strong. After four weeks I was back to my normal routine, looking better than ever and feeling fantastic!

Without Dr. Casas’s talent and genuine commitment to my total well being I would not be where I am today… 25 pounds lighter, 3 clothes sizes smaller and strong! With Dr. Casas’s integrated approach to surgery I got the results I was looking for within a recovery time frame that was far shorter than other women I know whom have had the same procedures. If you are considering a plastic surgery “mommy makeover” at all, I highly recommend that you go down the path with Dr. Laurie Casas. The end result will be beautiful inside and most definitely outside!!!"

Testi "I made the decision to have breast implants over a three year period. I had lost most of my breast volume through pregnancy and breast feeding. I postponed the decision until my children were older and I had divorced. As a newly single woman I had become self-conscious about wearing a bathing suit, and I could no longer find a bra that fit.

Dr. Casas was very patient with me…. I had lots of questions! I am very athletic, and wanted to make sure I could resume my physical activities, and that I selected a size that wouldn’t interfere with my active lifestyle.

My surgery was held in the morning, and I was awake and comfortable by 1 that afternoon. I opted to stay in the hospital for two nights. I had told my children I was having shoulder surgery, but still did not want to worry them with my immobility. I was very worried about going under general anesthesia as a parent of young children. Dr. Casas took my anxiety regarding this seriously, and prescribed me anti-anxiety medication to take just prior to and after the procedure. I had never taken anything like this before, but it definitely helped to make me comfortable and relaxed. It was a wise choice. She also gave me a nutrition and vitamin regimen to follow prior to the surgery. The herbal remedies to reduce bruising were amazing…. I never had one bruise!

As a single mom, getting help after the procedure was paramount. My mother and a friend helped me for the first five days when I was not to be alone, but I was very mobile, and was able to get out for school drop off, coffee and even dinner within that five days. By the end of the five days I was no longer on pain medication as well. I had opted for a pain pump, and that seemed to be enough. I had drains as well, which were easy enough to clean and manage. I also had help after school through bedtime for the first two weeks with driving and childcare, as Dr. Casas had instructed me to not lift my arms, prepare dinner, or do anything strenuous. I parked myself on a couch and my kids sat with me as they did their homework and caught me up on their days. It actually was pleasant to sit with them like that in comparison to the hustle-bustle of our normal days of sports, lessons, practices, and carpooling. Dr. Casas called often to check up on me. She was wonderful.

I went to the follow-up appointments and Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage with a friend so I would not have to drive, as I didn’t feel well enough to drive myself for about two weeks. I highly recommend the massage. It really helped to reduce the soreness and swelling. During this time Dr. Casas fit me with a bra and gave me a regimen of exercises, and taught me how to change the bandages. She had me wear an ace bandage tightly across the top of my chest with the bra to create the breast shape. I did this for many weeks, but it was easy enough to conceal this protocol under clothing. The change in the breast shape was gradual, but looked completely natural within 3 months. I had opted to have my incision in the nipple, and these scars are barely visible 6 months post-op. I also opted for saline implants. There is a bit of rippling that is visible because I had such little breast tissue, but Dr. Casas told me of this in advance, and that was a choice I made for myself– saline over silicone. When the time comes to replace them I will re-evaluate that decision.

Six months after my procedure I am so incredibly happy I made this decision! The results are natural, and I am training for the Boston Marathon, so I can attest to the fact that they definitely do not interfere with the sports I so enjoy!"

Testi "My fiancé and I were going to a tropical location for our honeymoon. We planned this a year in advance and I decided to have the breast augmentation that I always wanted before my wedding. Not only would I feel better in my wedding dress, I knew that I would finally enjoy wearing bikinis and I would be on my honeymoon!

The surgery took place at a hospital and I did it on an outpatient basis. Though I was nervous on the morning of surgery, Dr. Casas and the hospital nurses made me feel very comfortable and I was extremely prepared for what to expect following the surgery. Dr. Casas had given me a full description of what to expect, what to have on hand at home, and made me feel very confident in her ability. The whole process seemed to pass by quickly and smoothly and I was kept comfortable ,informed and extremely well taken care of. At first I had a lot of questions and each time, Dr. Casas answered in detail and then followed up with an email or called to make sure I understood the answer. Once she even met me in her office on a Saturday afternoon (her off day) when I wasn’t sure if I was wrapping correctly).

I wanted to be sure that all of the swelling was completely gone before my wedding, and with Dr. Casas’ post-op regimen of manual lymphatic drainage massage, that was not a problem! I found the dress of my dreams and I didn’t even have to hope that it would ‘disguise’ my lack of breast tissue. I was so thrilled. It actually showed off my new figure and both my husband I loved the outcome!

It made me feel more feminine and gave me more clothing options than I had before – I would do it again in a heartbeat! I highly recommend it!"

Testi "I am a 26 year old newly wed who was just married in March 2010.

For the most part, I’ve always been happy with my complexion; with the exception of a few brow wrinkles and red spots (broken capillaries) on my nose. I had heard about Dr. Casas through a client at work and decided it can’t hurt to explore my options. Of course I wanted to look my best on my wedding day without looking “botoxed”.

From the first time I met Dr. Casas I felt very comfortable with her ability to address my concerns. She took several factors into consideration before recommending a course of action. She suggested a laser treatment for my red spots and a few injections of Dysport to fill in my brow lines. Both procedures were extremely quick, painless and affordable. Dr. Casas also recommended a Hydrafacial, which has done WONDERS for my pores.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the results and the service. Dr Casas and her team of professionals exceeded my expectations in every way and I will thank her every time I look at my wedding pictures!”
