Fredric Newman, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Practicing out of an office serving both Westchester County, New York and Fairfield County, Connecticut, plastic surgeon Fredric "Rick" Newman, M.D., is devoted to artfully enhancing people’s lives through advanced reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. For more than 20 years, Dr. Newman has helped patients from across the world realize their dreams.

Above all else, Dr. Fredric Newman values trust in his relationship with his patients. He believes in providing patients with the education and information they need to make informed decisions about cosmetic surgery. He speaks honestly about the risks and limitations of surgery and helps his patients understand how they can contribute to their own healing process.

Dr. Newman sees plastic surgery as both a science and an art. Drawn by his credentials and expertise, many of our patients travel from all over the world to our Connecticut- and New York-area office in order to have plastic surgeon Fredric Newman perform their procedure.

Education and Training

In terms of training, very few plastic surgeons can match Dr. Newman. Before opening his successful private practice in Darien, Connecticut near New York, plastic surgeon Fredric Newman was educated at Yale and Harvard Medical School. He received his M.D. from S.U.N.Y. Downstate Medical Center, graduating summa cum laude. He was also the Plastic Surgery Chief Resident at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, New York University Medical Center. During his educational tenure, Dr. Newman had the privilege of working with some of the leading plastic surgeons in this country, including John Marquis Converse, editor of the definitive plastic surgery textbook, and D. Ralph Millard, Jr., whom many consider the greatest living plastic surgeon. Likewise, he has worked with James W. Smith, editor of the other best-received textbook of plastic surgery, and Dr. Yves-Gerard Illouz, known for perfecting modern liposuction techniques.

Dr. Newman believes deeply in the importance of education and continual training. He has invested not only in his own ongoing education but also in the education of others. He has taught at Harvard Medical School, New York University Medical School, Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York Medical College, and the University of Miami Medical School.

Associations and Memberships

Active in the medical community, Dr. Newman is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Surgery, and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons, and he is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is an Editorial Board Member of The Journal of Aesthetic Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery and has been published in many scientific journals.

Recognitions

Dr. Newman has been featured on national television as well as in magazines and newspapers. Among his other accomplishments, Dr. Newman is the official plastic surgeon for the New York Rangers.
