Dr. D.J. Campbell

Dr. D.J. Campbell recently joined Aesthetic Center of Gainesville and Braselton, P.C. in August 2007 after completing his plastic surgery fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The plastic surgery training program at Vanderbilt University is recognized as one of the most prestigious in the nation, and Dr. Campbell now brings his knowledge of the latest technological and surgical advancements in plastic surgery to the Northeast Georgia region. He remains committed to actively monitoring research developments in his field in order to provide his patients with access to careful, precise, and cutting edge surgical techniques. Additionally, Dr. Campbell recognizes that plastic surgery is as much an art as a science, and his unparalleled creativity and communication skills enable him to tailor his surgeries to meet the individual needs and goals of each unique patient.

Dr. Campbell grew up in nearby Cleveland, Georgia, where he was known as both a scholar and an athlete. He accepted a football scholarship to Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, and received numerous awards as quarterback and captain of the ASU football team, among them Academic All-American First Team NCAA/GTE Disney. Even throughout his illustrious career as a college athlete, Dr. Campbell remained dedicated to his goal of eventually becoming a physician and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1992. He began his medical training at Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia, and received a medical degree with highest honors in 1999. Dr. Campbell then entered the six-year General Surgery Residency Program at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga Unit. During his residency, he actively participated in research and served as Chief Resident of Surgery. After the completion of his general surgery training in 2005, he pursued a two-year fellowship in plastic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. Campbell’s educational career has been marked by impressive accolades and achievements. Notable accomplishments include being the recipient of the National Football Foundation/NFL Postgraduate and NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships, induction into the Northeast Georgia History Center Sports Hall of Fame, induction into the Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society, and selection for membership in Alpha Omega Alpha, the most respected and selective honorary society for medical students and physicians. His professional memberships include the American Medical Association, Southeastern Surgical Congress, and the Medical Association of Georgia. He is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Campbell’s passion for his career is surpassed only by his love for his family, including his twelve year old daughter Hannah and his seven year old son Blevin. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, watching football, reading non-fiction, and learning about both history and current events.

Dr. Campbell is currently accepting new patients in all areas of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and body. His patients and colleagues alike are consistently impressed by his empathetic and caring nature. He is dedicated to identifying the individual needs of his patients and ensuring that their experience is positive. Dr. Arden Hothem

Dr. Arden Hothem is the senior partner and founder of Aesthetic Center of Gainesville and Braselton, P.C. Born in Fresno, Ohio, He is married and the father of four grown children. He moved to Gainesville in 1977 to start his career in plastic surgery and has been a highly respected member of the community ever since.

Dr. Hothem earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University in 1964 and his Doctor of Medicine degree also from Ohio State University in 1968. Following this, Dr. Hothem served as a flight surgeon at Womack Hospital in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He went on to compete his general surgery residency in 1975 at North Carolina Memorial Hospital on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He completed his plastic surgery residency in 1977, also at the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Hothem is highly skilled and well trained in all areas of plastic surgery. He is broadly trained and has completed countless cases in the areas of plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgery. Dr. Hothem is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the American Association for Hand Surgery, the Medical Association of Georgia, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Georgia Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Womack Surgical Society, and the American Cleft Palate Association. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and has been Board Certified in Plastic Surgery since 1978. In 1992, Dr. Hothem was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand from the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Hothem has a wealth of knowledge and experience from over 30 years of plastic surgery practice. He has a very reassuring bedside manner and is well loved and respected by his patients and staff. Dr. Hothem has operating privileges at Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery Center, Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and the Gainesville Surgery Center. Dr. Hothem is currently accepting new patients in all areas of plastic surgery.

Dr. Sam Richwine, Jr.

Dr. Sam Richwine, Jr. is a native of north Georgia. He was born in Athens and graduated from high school in Cornelia. Dr. Richwine is married with two children (one is an investment banking analyst and one is a physician in a dermatology residency) and is an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Gainesville.

Dr. Richwine graduated magna cum laude from The University of Georgia in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He went to medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and graduated with a doctorate of medicine degree in 1977. Dr. Richwine completed a surgical internship and a general surgery residency at the Medical College of Georgia. He subsequently finished a plastic surgery residency also at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Richwine has completed preceptorships in hand surgery and cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Richwine started his career at Aesthetic Center of Gainesville and Braselton, P.C. in January 1985 and has spent his entire career with this practice. Dr. Richwine has been board certified in plastic surgery since 1985. In 1993, Dr. Richwine earned a Certificate of Added Qualifications for Surgery of the Hand from The American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Richwine is recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the following organizations: American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, American Association for Hand Surgery, Georgia Surgical Society, Moretz Surgical Society, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Medical Association of Georgia. Dr. Richwine is also an Associate Clinical Professor at the Medical College of Georgia in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has clinical privileges at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery Center, and Gainesville Surgery Center. He has served on the Credentials Committee at Northeast Georgia Medical Center from 1993 to present, and he is the Medical Director of the Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery Center at Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery Associates, P. C. Dr. Richwine previously served as Chief of Staff at Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville.

Dr. Richwine has a very good sense of humor and bedside manor and is adored by his patients and staff. He is very caring and compassionate to his patients and has a wealth of experience from his 20 years of practice in plastic surgery. Dr. Richwine is knowledgeable in all areas of plastic surgery and is currently accepting new patients.

Dr. K. Glen Walton

Dr. Glen Walton has been a plastic surgeon with Aesthetic Center of Gainesville and Braselton, P.C. since November 1997. Dr. Walton has established himself as an excellent, highly skilled surgeon and he is highly sought after by patients in our area.

Dr. Walton grew up with a background in medicine, with his father being a Urologist. Dr. Walton also has a brother that is currently practicing as a Urologist in Athens, Georgia. Dr. Walton was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He went to high school in Atlanta and graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1984. He then went to medical school at Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, graduating with his Doctorate of Medicine Degree in 1988. Dr. Walton then completed his residency in general surgery at the Emory University General Surgery Program from 1988 - 1993. He then went on to attend a fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Plastic Surgery Program from 1993 - 1995. While at Dartmouth College, Dr. Walton was selected as a Rufus Choate Scholar, and he was also selected for Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Walton was also invited to join the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society while at Emory University.

Dr. Walton began his professional career at Plastic Surgery of Athens, in Athens, Georgia from 1995 - 1997. Dr. Walton left there to join Aesthetic Center of Gainesville and Braselton, P.C. in November of 1997, where he has been ever since. He has staff privileges at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery Center, and Gainesville Surgery Center. Dr. Walton became board certified in general surgery in 1994, and board certified in plastic surgery in 1997. Some of his professional accomplishments include being a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the following professional organizations: American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Association for Hand Surgery, the Medical Association of Georgia, and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. Walton is also a contributing author for Dallas Rhinoplasty, Nasal Surgery by the Masters, which is considered one of the world's premier sources for technical advances in rhinoplasty.

Dr. Walton is married and the father of three children. His interests include skiing, tennis, kayaking, golf and taking care of his four dogs. Dr. Walton has a very good bedside manner, and he relates very well to his patients. He is very easy going and is well loved and respected by his patients and his staff. He is well trained in all aspects of plastic surgery and is currently accepting new patients in all areas of plastic surgery.

Dr. Ed Abell

Dr. Ed Abell has been practicing at Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery Associates, P. C. since August 2004. Dr. Abell has endeared himself to both his patients and staff alike with his warm personality and enthusiastic spirit.

Dr. Abell obtained his undergraduate degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993. Dr. Abell then went on to medical school and graduated from the University of Tennessee, College of Medicine, in Memphis, Tennessee in 1997. Following that, he then completed his general surgery residency in the General Surgery program at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia in 2002. He then completed his plastic surgery residency in 2004, at the University of Tennessee in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program.

After the completion of this residency, Dr. Abell joined our other physicians at Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery Associates, P. C. He currently has staff privileges at Northeast Georgia Plastic Surgery Center, Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and Healthsouth Gainesville Surgery Center. Dr. Abell is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery and also has obtained memberships in The American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Association for Hand Surgery.

Dr. Abell is a native of Elizabethton, Tennessee. He was a great fit for this practice immediately upon his arrival in north Georgia. He is married and has one daughter. His interests include photography, hiking, cycling, playing the guitar, and sports. His affable personality and gentle bedside manner along with his up-to-date knowledge of plastic surgery and new procedures and techniques in plastic surgery has already made Dr. Abell a popular and sought after physician in Gainesville. Dr. Abell is currently accepting new patients in all areas of plastic surgery.
