A board-certified anesthesiologist will administer you anesthetic and will be present at all times to ensure utmost safety. When your surgery is completed, you will be taken to a recovery area where you will be closely monitored. Small drain tubes may have been placed to help avoid the accumulation of fluids. Gauze or other dressings may also be used.

You may be permitted to go home after a few hours, unless you and Dr. Semlacher have determined that you will stay in the hospital or surgical facility overnight.

While making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home and to spend the first night after surgery. Also you will require assistance the first few post-operative days. If you have young children someone should most definitely assist you for the first week post-operatively.

After your initial healing period, you will return to our office for a post- operative follow-up visit so your progress can be evaluated. In the following months, Dr. Semlacher will ask you to return for periodic checkups. It's important to keep these appointments so that Dr. Semlacher can assess your long-term results and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Testi "I though I’d give you an update on my daughter N. who is progressing very well. Please share this with surgeons Green, Sasaura, Cometo, Gregory, Dr. Naseer, and the other professionals that helped her get through her fight with Necrotizing Fasciitis.

As a preface to this update, I recall that after her life and leg were saved, we understood that she’d be walking in about a year – that’s about a month from now. Fortunately she has done a bit better than that prediction. She’s been walking without a limp for months, and her activities this summer included the following:

Competed in this year’s Eppies Grate Race with two other women, where N. did the bike leg of the race. They finished in 2nd place. N. won the Ironwoman competition (where the competitor does all 3 legs of the race) in 2009 and 2010.

One month ago she and a group of friends climbed Mt. Shasta, which is a bit over 14,000 feet in elevation.

As a parent and a physician that contributed to N.’s recovery , you understand how happy and proud I am of her. Although these words are inadequate, thanks again to you and the other professionals at Mercy San Juan for everything you all did for her."
J.A.Y.

Testi "I am writing this letter with great gratitude and immense appreciation for all that Dr. Roy Semlacher has done on my behalf regarding surgical care and attention. His phenomenal understanding of the human body and all of it’s dynamics allows him to have impeccable outcomes. I personally felt impressed by his gross knowledge and self confidence in his work. Dr. Semlachers morals and ethics shined through as he took extra steps to insure my health and safety would never be compromised from my decision to augment. His surgical skills combined with his diligence should not go unnoticed."
L.M.

Testi "I had breast augmentation by Dr. Semlacher 9-10 years ago. Since then I have sent countless friends to him that have also had the surgery done. Why? Because they all told me they would have never guessed I had surgery because they looked so natural. I'm now 44 so I have regular mammograms {funny story}. Every time I go in, you fill out the form that asks if you have implants.

The technicians always say they look so natural and beautiful do you mind me asking you where's the scar. Although a little awkward feeling they all tell me they have seen thousands of breast augmentations and a lot of them are so messed up or very visible scars. So since I just had my most recent mammogram, I thought it was a perfect time to say thanks Dr. Semlacher for a great job."

Testi "I am three weeks post-op and had a wonderful experience. I went to Dr. Semlacher in Carmichael/Sacramento. My friend had gone to Dr. Semlacher last year and also had a wonderful experience. Your site helped me to reassure that Dr. Semlacher was an accredited plastic surgeon and that he was recommended by your site. Thanks so much.

I started out as a 34b, saggy from childbearing and nursing and came out as a 34D, 5'4" 125, 300cc, under, saline, peri, o/f 330L and 345R. I had not one bruise and minimal swelling. I was back to work on day three and have a hairline scar, at 3 weeks post-op you can't see it unless you are looking for it. My friends could not believe how well I was doing the night after surgery. I was up walking around, talking, and even laughing. I had always heard of these horrible stories from women who had ba done, drains, bed ridden, etc. I had the best experience I think is possible.

Dr. Semlacher is extremely knowledgeable and up to date with the latest medical techniques and advancements. His staff too is extremely helpful. He is the type of doctor who is more concerned about giving you implants that fit your body, not make an easy buck. He will not go beyond a certain cc I think 400cc and if you want bigger, he will refer you out. The whole point is not to look fake right? When I went in for my first day post-op checkup I had flowers there waiting for me to take home from him and his staff. I thought that that was such a nice gesture.

The bottom line is that I would recommend him to anyone including my close friends and family and would like to see more women experience a positive and happy BA."

Testi "Dear Dr. Semlacher,

I just wanted to take a minute and tell you how much I appreciate your services. As you may know, my wife and I went to other surgeons before coming to your office for her surgery.

As her husband it was very difficult for me to stand there and watch a stranger draw all over my wife with a felt pen like she was a piece of meat to be butchered. These doctors gave no consideration as to how embarrassing it may have been for my wife or how difficult it was for me to stand there while my wife was exposed to the world. Not only were you compassionate for my wife's feelings but you also considered mine. Your bedside manner could not have been better. You made both of us as comfortable as possible and kept her exposure to a minimum. Your professionalism is appreciated and unsurpassed.

My wife has fully recovered and is very pleased with her out come. As for me, I am just happy that she is happy. I again thank you and wish you all the best."

Testi "I'm fairly attractive and I could wear nice clothes. But I could never wear decent bathing suits or evening gowns," says 42-year-old Bonnie (not her real name), whose small breasts shrunk after breast feeding. She had considered breast augmentation surgery but never felt she had "that type of money tucked away". Then, she says, "I just got looking my body and thought, 'I'm just going to go ahead and do it'".

Once she made the decision she moved quickly. "I wanted to get it done before the holidays," she says, and many physicians she called couldn't get her in. But Roy Semlacher, M.D., F.R.C.S.C., could. More important to Bonnie, she sensed that he was honest. "He said some surgeons... do this procedure and turn them around in a hour's worth of surgery but that he took closer to three hours. I wanted someone to do a good job. Plus, I went to his web page and it had examples of before and after, and I liked what I saw". And she was pleased with the result of her surgery.

"I've had no complications from the surgery and no scarring visible. Now anything I put on is just sexy," she says. "I told my doctor, 'I don't want to be a pin-up, but I want to look voluptuous'. There's a big difference there because I'm a professional woman. I didn't want my husband to be part of the decision because he'd go for the biggest cup size", she adds, laughing."
