I prayed about the vanity, expense, secrecy, sheer embarrassment that goes along with the guilt of having let me get in this condition. I found the courage to make the first of many calls. I went through the motions, then backed away, literally talked myself out of what seemed like a selfish thing to do. I could not justify the whole idea for some unknown reason. Lots of time passed until I got worse and more disgusted with me, which added to the low self esteem not to mention lack of motivation. Enough! Let me just say, I made vet another series of calls, STILL greeted with the same kindness and did not talk myself out of it this lime, I just did it! I am so THANKFUL that I did! Richard E. Cummings, M.D., has established a reputation as a pre-eminent plastic surgeon in Kinston, Raleigh, and throughout North Carolina. Indeed, he has earned acclaim from fellow surgeons and patients around the world for his skill and artistry in performing breast augmentation procedures, consistently producing beautiful, natural looking results for hundreds of women each year.

Dr. Cummings is a graduate of Brooklyn Preparatory School in Brooklyn, New York. During that time he was a member of the National Honor Society while participating on the football, basketball, baseball, and track teams. He attended Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York, where he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Dr. Cummings then attended the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, where he received his M.D. degree. His internship and General Surgery residency were performed at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, as well as the Miami V.A. Hospital and the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. His residency in Plastic Surgery was done at Loyola University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Cummings is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery - the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify plastic surgeons. He currently offers his services as a plastic surgeon to Raleigh, Wilmington, and other North Carolina residents, as well as to patients from around the world who are interested in achieving superior breast augmentation results.

Dr. Richard E. Cummings entered private practice as a plastic surgeon in Kinston in 1984, and he has also served as the Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons at Lenoir Memorial Hospital since that time. He has competed in triathlons around the country, and he also enjoys skiing and playing tennis and golf. He and his wife, Crystal, reside in Kinston and Wilmington, NC. They have four children: Patrick, Alex, Chasity, and Justin.
