Dear Dr. Greenberg,

Last time I was in your office I joked about how lightly you take what you do. I guess when you do something everyday it becomes routine. You have such a major impact in many lives but most importantly to me is the impact you've had in my life. I am now 40 I had my son when I was 20. I was very much in shape size five and very happy with myself. After my son I was 15lbs heavier and had a major pouch in the abdominal area, not to mention the stretch marks. It was a small price to pay for my son and after having my daughter again I was 10 pounds heavier on top of the 15 from my son. I knew then both my kids came first and did neglect myself because of that but I wouldn't have changed a thing.

My son is now 20 and my daughter is 17 it was time for me. I knew 5 years ago when I turned 40 I wanted a tummy tuck. So one year ago I joined kickboxing which has also changed my life, I lost 30 pounds and have completely changed my whole body. That was the start of my journey. It did take me a whole two years to talk my husband into paying for it he felt that I looked good and loved me just the way I was. But I have learned it doesn't matter what your husband thinks, it doesn't matter what your friends think. Bottom line is you need to be happy with yourself and I wasn't. When I walked into your office a year ago I knew no matter what it took I was getting this for my 40th birthday. Well I did and I remember the day after the surgery you came to see me. You took off the bandage to look I remember saying I am not going to look I didn't want to be grossed out. But after you took off the bandages I did look down and I just said "oh my god it looks amazing" you just smiled as if to say yeah I know. After you left I started to cry it did it looked amazing and if none of the swelling ever went down I would be happy. To anyone else you see a major scar it is so much more it is like a scar to cover many scars. I was twenty just married with a new baby and very unhappy about the way I looked, what I was going through at twenty most of my friends went through ten years later. I have always worked full time and had to get dressed up for work, every time I had to get dressed I was depressed I found myself sucking in my stomach so it wouldn't hang over my clothes or stick out when I had a dress on. I never felt pretty. Twenty years of sucking in your stomach is a very long time. Thank you! You are amazing. You have helped me change my life. I feel great; I have a confidence I never thought I would have. When I get dressed for work in the morning I like what I see in the mirror, my dress clothes look nice and have never felt better in a pair of jeans and tee shirt.
