Super Docs: Robert Dickey Peterson, M.D., Plastic Surgeon
Texas-born and -reared, Dr. Robert Dickey Peterson comes from
a proud family of physicians. He discovered plastic surgery as an
undergraduate through a six-week National Institute on Health
scholarship program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in
Galveston. Today, he provides patients with the most innovative
plastic surgery techniques, including laser facial restructuring and
ultrasonic liposuction. “I am committed to my patients and their
individual needs, providing procedures that are safe and forward thinking,” he said.
Named a Texas Top Physician by Texas Monthly Magazine and
nationally recognized in the Guide to Top Doctors by the Center
for the Study of Services, Dr. Peterson offers myriad cosmetic
surgery options, including liposuction; abdominoplasty; face and
neck lifts; endoscopic brow lift; eyelid and nose surgeries; laser
treatments; Botox; and breast augmentation, lifts and reductions,
to help patients regain and boost their self-confidence. He also
performs breast cancer reconstruction surgery. “My team understands the challenges and emotions that women experience as a

Dr. Peterson is also regularly called upon to demonstrate new
technologies and participate in clinical trials. He was the first
doctor in Houston to use the harmonic scalpel, a tool used in
Europe for more than a decade. “Used in face-lift surgery, the
harmonic scalpel is a remarkable device that cuts with sound and
vibration, sealing the vessels as it cuts,” he said. “This reduces the
amount of swelling and pain a patient experiences.” His practice
also took part in an FDA-approved clinical trial of the IDEAL
IMPLANT, an investigational, saline-filled breast implant.
Board-certified, Dr. Peterson has been in private practice for 30
years. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of
Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he also completed his
internship and plastic and reconstructive surgical residencies. He
performed his surgical residency at the University of Texas Health
Science Center in San Antonio.
