Women have breast enlargement for a variety of different and personal reasons. ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
Dr. Hoefflin performs his Los Angeles and Beverly Hills breast augmentations as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia or deep intravenous sedation, as administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist. The procedure generally takes 1 hour. All operations are performed in fully credentialed and state-of-the-art surgical facilities.
INCISION
The breasts are enlarged by placing soft implants though one of four different incisionas: the lower edge of the areola (periareolar), along the natural breast fold (inframammary), through the armpit (transaxillary) or through the belly button (transumbilical or scarless breast augmentation).
IMPLANT LOCATION
Dr. Hoefflin's breast augmentations are performed using the specialized "dual-plane" technique, in which a portion of the implant is placed above the pectoral muscle, and a portion beneath the muscle. The result is a more natural and youthful appearance with long-lasting results. This advanced surgical technique avoids the appearance of rippling or "operated-on" appearance of other techniques.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER SURGERY
Our patients are surprisingly free of discomfort due to the long-acting local anesthetic injections and nerve blocks. Pain after surgery is unusual. Any discomfort is easily controlled with oral pain medication. Small and meticulously placed self-absorbing sutures are usually gone within seven days.
Most patients tell us they feel better than expected following their breast augmentation surgery and are able to return to work and social activities within one week. Light exercise can be resumed at two weeks. Final results can be appreciated anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months after surgery.
RISKS
When performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, the risk of serious problems after a Los Angeles Breast Augmentation are rare. Most complications are minor, temporary, and can be easily resolved with conservative treatment and time.
