Lip Lift Procedure
The upper lip lift is a procedure that elevates the position of the upper lip with respect to the teeth giving a broader smile. The amount of pink lip that is seen is also increased giving the patient wider lips. The lips can also be made fuller with lip augmentation by injecting fillers or fat into the lips at the same surgical session. The overall effect of the lip lift is a more esthetically pleasing mouth with a youthful appearance. The lip lift
A lip lift procedure is performed by excising skin and re-suturing the skin back together creating a higher lip. The lip lift works by taking a strip of skin from the part of the lip close to the nose and hiding the scar in the line of separation between nose and lip. This scar is very well disguised, similar to the facelift scar in front of the ear, as the surgical incision is between two different anatomic structures.
The incision is made along the curves right under your nose. This procedure is great for those wishing to decrease the lip to nose ratio and lift the upper lip to show more vermilion. The amount of tissue removal is very dependent upon your own needs. You can have just a little (central lip lift) or extend more from each outer side just under the nose. Care is taken to maintain a cupid's bow, unless of course the patient wishes to have a flatter bow.
The result of the lip lift is a more youthful and pleasant shape to the mouth and lips. The teeth will show more and the patient usually looks happier and relaxed.
